The Bishop Thomas Burke Society
"Bishop Burke has a twinkle in his eye and a zest for living that enhanced his appealing Irish charm."

Under the dynamic leadership of Bishop Thomas Burke, the Diocese of Albany ventured into the twentieth century, aggressively expanding the ministries, health care programs and educational institutions that continue to meet the spiritual and temporal needs of the faithful.

Bishop Burke's impact upon the region was so profound that when he died in 1915, both houses of the New York State Legislature and the county court adjourned out of respect for his passing.

We invite you to celebrate Bishop Burke's generosity of spirit and wisdom by joining the Bishop Thomas Burke Society.

The 1847 Society
On April 23, 1847, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany was established by Pope Pius IX. We invite you to join us in marking this historical day, by joining our new giving group, The 1847 Society.

We are called upon not only to continue the work of the Church - but to enlarge and increase it - to lay new foundations broader and deeper - to plant seed for larger growth - that the tree’s branches may spread out - that you and your children may sit beneath its shade and partake of its refreshing fruit.
